This past Dec. 7, the SaddleBrooke Square Dancers gathered at the SaddleBrooke One Activity Center for our annual Christmas party.
We started the evening with a social hour enhanced with our carefully selected BYOBOW (Bring Your Own Bottles Of Wine). In keeping with our long-standing tradition, our social hour was followed by a scrumptious potluck dinner.
Throughout the evening, we were entertained by Lauren Saxton, a superb accordionist and wonderful singer. Lauren also engaged his audience by having them join with him in some traditional Christmas carols and songs.
Prior to our party, we were told to bring a child’s Christmas present with us. I was excited, because I was quite sure we were in for a different version of a white elephant gift exchange. However, upon arriving, we were told our presents would be contributed to the Golder Ranch Fire Department’s annual Toys for Kids program.
We all anticipated the presents we brought with us would be delivered to our local firehouse when, to our delight, 12 on-duty firemen entered our Activity Center to collect our gifts and personally thank us for supporting their Toys for Kids program. (Not sure why, but the women seemed particularly enthralled by these uniformed, muscular, and good-looking firemen.)
