Jewish Friendship Group Events

Marsha Foresman

The Jewish Friendship Group (JFG) continues an active and rewarding season. Even though COVID numbers have increased in the Tucson area, we are still able to meet in person for all activities by taking proper precautions.

We are trying to plan some events for those stalwarts who brave the heat of summer. By the time you read this message, Joy Erickson will have welcomed 20 ladies to her home for a Ladies’ Coffee on July 28. These coffees are always a fun way to keep up with those members who come and go during the summer. We are experiencing tremendous heat and intermittent downpours that go with our monsoons. As such, Joy notified all that the Coffee may be held inside so that all precautions can be planned. Stay tuned for the September article for a review of this summer fun.

If you wish to host a Coffee, either during the summer or for the upcoming fall, please contact Sandy Rosen. We are still looking for hostesses for the Ladies’ Coffees for August, September, and December.

This is the time of year when we decide to keep the house (after all, the views are fantastic, and the monsoons are exciting) but sell the kitchen, as it is too hot to cook. If this is your viewpoint, then the Jewish Friendship Group’s “No Host Dinner” on Aug. 24 at 5:30 p.m. in the East Dining Room of the MountainView Clubhouse is right up your alley. RSVP to Sue Berman by Aug. 16. Let’s let someone else cook for us while we socialize!

In the “olden” days when I was a teenager and complained about the heat, my mother would tell me to sit still and think “cool” thoughts. The cool thought for this hot day is that the annual JFG Potluck is scheduled for Oct. 25. The last Potluck had delicious offerings, so put this on your calendar (another chance for someone else to feed you and clean up afterwards).

The Jewish Friendship Group welcomes anyone interested in identifying with the Jewish community here in SaddleBrooke. If you have any questions about the group, feel free to contact Sue Berman at 520-818-1954.
