What do you do when it’s raining? Unless there’s something else pressing, do you read? Do you watch TV? Or perhaps, do you practice your musical instrument and maybe sing a few old songs?
Members of the SaddleBrooke Women’s Golf Association-18 (SBWGA-18) recently had two opportunities to warm up their vocal cords. Rain, marvelous rain, poured down the mornings of Aug. 10 and 17, filling the ponds to overflowing, washing gravel into the streets, and closing our golf courses.
However, while “Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head” seemed to be the tune most apropos of late, Darlene Warner played on sunny Aug. 15 to memorable results, her first hole-in-one. On Catalina number 3, Darlene struck her ball with a hybrid number four and, along with her husband, Duane, and Linda and Don Burnham, witnessed her ball hit the green and trickle into the cup. Congratulations, Darlene!
SBWGA-18’s charity for 2020 and 2021 is Youth On Their Own (YOTO). Due to the generous offerings of time, money, and goods, our golf league was named Volunteer Group for the Year 2020. Ann Chatham, our charity representative who spearheaded and organized these efforts, recently received, on behalf of SBWGA-18, YOTO’s award from Kristin Ohman, volunteer manager for YOTO. Congratulations, ladies, for supporting this worthy charity that helps school-aged children, many of whom have only this one resource for assistance.

Don’t let “Rainy Days And Mondays” get you down. With “Stormy Weather” in the forecast during monsoon season, there may be a regret or two if it rains on Tuesdays and washes out the league’s golf game. Yet Tuesday rolls around the next week, giving SBWGA-18 another opportunity to play 18 holes.
It’s time to tee up!
