Actually, Friends of SaddleBrooke Libraries and their guests were treated to much more than an art gallery. They gathered for a professional tour of the very structures that were built by the artist whose fame initiated Tucson as a visitor’s destination. One of those adobe structures displays many, but not nearly all, of Ted DeGrazia’s paintings which number in the thousands. Others included a church, his living quarters and the grounds where he was inspired to become the most reproduced artist in the entire world. Shannon Rossomando, who has guided the gallery’s tours for 15 years, delighted in illuminating the artist’s iconoclastic talent as he produced series painting that depicted historical Arizona events. FSL members were given a rare insight into the mind that used a pallet knife to instill an impressionist’s sense of movement and drama into art. While FSL is best known for purchasing new books for the three SaddleBrooke libraries, its tours, social gatherings and lectures are proving to be an important social and educational extension of the SaddleBrooke experience. We extend a personal invitation to each of you to join us.
