If you are a mystery and suspense fan then I have some wonderful news for you! Kent Treiber, a SaddleBrooke resident (and my husband), has just published his second book, Sierra Vengeance. This is a sequel to his first, Whitewater Killer, and Kent’s fans will be happy to know that Jake and Celia have returned once more. The responses to his first book were tremendous (have a look on Amazon and you will see the rave reviews readers gave Whitewater Killer). Fans liked Jake and Celia so much that they clamored for a sequel. The accolades continue for Sierra Vengeance and readers say that the first book was great but they loved his second even more.
Although I am his wife I can say most sincerely, without prejudice, that Kent’s talents for creating tension and excitement are impressive. In fact when I went through my second editing of the book, Kent asked me to rate each chapter on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being “I quit” to 10 being “couldn’t put it down.” Mind you, I had already read it once. From the start his chapters were receiving high marks, but as I got to the middle of the book and I was rating them as 10’s, the excitement level continued to rise! I had to give them 11’s, 12’s and 13’s! I was so gripped by the book that I just did not want to put it down.
Kent retired after 30 years with IBM. One can see the creative brilliance that made him such a successful Senior Researcher in his development of the story line and characters, thorough research and knowledge of his subjects and development of police procedure and technologies. Kent takes technologies which are available to law enforcement today and puts his creative twist on them, showing how these may be combined to create something greater than the sum of the parts. He masterfully gives the reader just enough details to be fascinating and thoroughly convincing, yet not overwhelm with technological details or skip a beat in the tension. It is a wonderful read and I hope that you will give it a try.
Kent’s books can be found on Amazon.com in both paper and Kindle formats. Here’s the description from the back cover: “Two women have vanished from small northern California towns. As California Department of Justice agents Jake Appleby and Celia Moreno enter the case, a third disappears. Using technology, intuition and good police work they make significant progress on the case. When their only witness is assassinated they find themselves stymied. Suddenly, women close to Jake become victims. Keeping his loved ones safe and finding the murderer becomes the challenge of Jake’s life.”
