The SaddleBrooke Line Dance Club was recently invited to perform at three separate events in the local Tucson area. The first performance was held February 20 at the Desert Springs Retirement Living center in Oro Valley. The residents celebrated Tucson Rodeo Week and our line dancers supported the theme with four country/western dances and a special instruction by Bertie Litchfield of a waltz to the beautiful song, I Love You, Arizona. Several residents joined in to dance while those in the audience waved colorful red, yellow and blue Arizona state flags.
Our second performance was held on March 9 in support of the Interfaith Community Services hosted by St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. This event was held to recognize the volunteers of ICS who provide programs and services to the community which include caregiving, counseling, food distribution, tax assistance, transportation and support for domestic abuse. The theme for this event was camping, so the SaddleBrooke Line Dance Club dancers grabbed their bandanas and performed four peppy line dances in front of a tent to an audience of over 120 people.
Our third performance was held on April 13 at the Golden Goose’s annual Volunteer Appreciation party. The theme was Italian and we opened with a dance to Roman Holiday and finished with a line dance instruction by Jeanne Fernandez. Those Goosers like to party and several of them joined in to dance to the popular Blue Suede Shoes.
Much thanks to local DJ’s Gus and Gina Dibiasi of Jukebox Journey who generously give their time and music services to many Tucson senior centers and charitable organizations.
