While working with the SaddleBrooke Pet Rescue Network’s Stuff The Truck last March, I had people ask me “What should I do if I find a lost pet?” or “What to do if I lose my pet?”
Following is an excerpt from the SaddleBrooke Pet Rescue Network’s website (www.sbpetrescue.com) addressing these issues.
If you have found a lost pet:
Contact SaddleBrooke HOA 1 Patrol 520-825-9814 and HOA 2 cell 520-349-5124 to see if someone reported a lost pet.
Take the pet to Mesquite Veterinary Hospital to check for a microchip at no cost.
Contact SaddleBrooke Dog Park at 520-825-4213 to request that Dog Park members be alerted. Provide a detailed description of the pet and where found.
If you are able to foster the pet for a month, the Pet Rescue Network will try to place it with a rescue group or a family. If you can’t foster the pet, contact the rescue groups listed on our website.
For immediate surrender, bring them to: The Humane Society of Southern Arizona, 3450 N. Kelvin Boulevard, Tucson, Arizona 85716, phone 520-327-6088 (there is a small charge but it’s a preferred location) or Pima Animal Care Center at 4000 N. Silverbell Road in Tucson, 85745, 520-243-5900.
If you lose your pet:
Contact SaddleBrooke Patrol at 520-825-9814, the Dog Park at 520-825-4213 or Mesquite Veterinary Hospital at 520-825-3211. Be specific on the pet’s description and where they were lost.
Post bulletins at the Mini-Mart and Dog Park.
Contact Pima Animal Care Center at 520-243-5900, Pinal Animal Care and Control at 520-509-3555 and the Humane Society of Southern Arizona at 520-327-6088.
Request assistance for a search from your neighbors and friends.

‘Tis the season to “re-member” the network!
Because of you, the Network was wildly successful in 2014 re-homing and rehabilitating Tucson’s rescue pets. SaddleBrooke pet lovers are a devoted and generous group! Check out these results:
244 pets re-homed through personal placement and adoption events; $13,300 donated helped 34 pets, 16 rescue groups and two county shelters with medical care; $3,300 raised at the ‘I Don’t Want It Sale’ benefiting Pima Animal Care Vet Clinic; 3600 plus volunteer hours socializing shelter pets and working off-site adoptions for Pima Animal Care Center.
Let’s do it again in 2015! Renew your $10 membership, please.
Mail/drop your check to SB Pet Rescue Network, c/o Evelyn Summers, 39459 S. Moonwood Drive, Tucson, AZ 85739. Donate online at http://sbpetrescue.com/Join_or_Donate.html. Donations in excess of the $10 are welcome. That’s a big part of how we gave so much for pet medical expenses.
Ask one friend to join and we’ll double our membership to 600! Give them an application by printing at http://sbpetrescue.com/Join_or_Donate.html.
