How about a bit of spring cleaning? The Knit Wits are checking their stash to see what fibers they will not be using. These are going to be swapped with other Knit Wits in our De-Stash/Yarn Busting event. We have a habit of buying more than we can possibly use. Also sometimes our tastes just change. Either way, everyone will win!
Another project being undertaken is called the Build a Block afghan. We are ready to work on Block No. four. Each block features a different design pattern, so it is a quick and easy way to try a new stitch without being committed to a big garment. Some knitters have already asked Barb, one of our presidents, “how can I put these all together?” Everyone goes at her own pace; there is no right or wrong for timing. Here in Knit Wits you can choose to do a special class like this or just say, “not this time.”
Have you heard of the Chinese Waitress Cast-on? Well, I had not either. The members will have a chance to see Barb’s demonstration and give it a try. It is fun to share ideas and different techniques with each other.
Wondering how to keep cool as we start warming up in SaddleBrooke? There are many wonderful ways to knit and crochet small items (knitted knockers, chemo hats, baby articles, for example) for others use a lacy silky yarn for yourself or just get a jump on those holiday gifts!
Knit Wits have meetings every Wednesday morning from 9:00-11:00 a.m. We are found in SaddleBrooke One, Room 4 and everyone is welcome to stop by to check us out. Hope to see a new face or two this month!
