Joan Elder
In May 2018, I traveled to Africa with a group of 18 other people. After we returned from that amazing trip, I wrote an article for this paper. Many SaddleBrooke residents read that article and told me they wished they had known about the trip before we went since they might have been interested in going with us. So here is another chance – this time I would welcome additional travelers to an upcoming trip to South America.
The travel to the eastern part of South America will take place in the fall, 2019 – from late October to early November. The itinerary, which is still flexible, starts with several days of exploration and activities in Buenos Aires, Argentina. We will visit the historic downtown, the residential area of Palermo and an exciting Argentine Tango Show! Another day we will visit a working estancia, an Argentine rodeo and enjoy an asada (or Argentine BBQ).
From BA we will travel to Iguazu Falls – first in Argentina and then on the Brazilian side, too. There are many sights to see at this magnificent water fall which Eleanor Roosevelt said made Niagara Falls look small.
The concluding activity will be a four-day cruise on the Amazon River aboard the new Amazon Clipper Premium – a uniquely styled vessel with just 16 cabins (maximum 32 passengers). This small boat is able to travel to places few tourists get to see and the food is delicious.
If you are interested in learning more about this once-in-a-lifetime trip, please call Joan Elder at 520-825-0190 (or 520-360-1478) or email at [email protected]. I will be hosting an informational wine and cheese gathering on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at my home. Please call or email so I can confirm necessary details. I hope we get a small group of excited SaddleBrooke travelers headed to South America!
