Rev. Rachel Srubas
During the season of Lent, Mountain Shadows Presbyterian Church will offer a Lenten Learning Book Discussion on four consecutive Mondays at 2:00 p.m.: February 19 and 26, March 5 and 12. Mountain Shadows is located at 14240 North Oracle Road at Mountainaire Drive (www.mountainshadowschurch.org). Pastor Rachel Srubas will welcome class participants to talk together about the book No Innocent Bystanders: Becoming an Ally in the Struggle for Justice. Readable and faith-based, No Innocent Bystanders integrates the major Christian realities of faith, grace, sin, repentance, forgiveness, love, justice and reconciliation into a practical guide for followers of Jesus who feel called to change unjust social systems. The book is written to help Christians resist racism and advocate for the rights of LGBTQ persons and other oppressed groups. Because it invites readers to look within themselves and act with wisdom and courage, it will be a fitting read for the transformational season of Lent. Those who attend worship at Mountain Shadows on Sundays at 10:00 a.m. may sign up at the church to participate in a bulk purchase of the book. Others may purchase it through an online bookseller.
