Joe’s Flight trip is scheduled for September 14 through 16 at the Tucson International Airport departure level at the American Airlines Ticket Counter with send-off on Sunday, September 14, Flight No. 1648 departing at 6:00 a.m. (wheels up) and returning Tuesday, September 16, flight No. 2304 arriving in Tucson at 1:00 p.m.*
We have 25 WWII Veterans scheduled on our first flight this fall. Please join all of southern Arizona at the airport Sunday morning September 14 from 4:00 to 5:00 a.m. to cheer for our vets as they head to the boarding area. We would also like to see you at the airport again on Tuesday afternoon, September 16 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. for a huge Welcome Home Vets (the one they never got at the end of WWII). It is a great way to thank them and a teachable moment for all children; a moment they will never forget!
Parking: Please use either the Hourly lot or the Economy Parking lot on East Corona Road (shuttle provided). Bring your ticket with you up to the AA ticketing area on the departure level and TAA may be able to validate your parking ticket; their way of saying thank you for supporting our vets!
*It is always a good idea to check with the airlines prior to driving to the airport to confirm the scheduled arrival times and check for any delays.
This flight is dedicated to the indelible spirit of Joe Mendez; this is Joe’s Flight.
Joseph M. Mendez, USA, 1920-2014
Note: the 6:00 a.m. departure may be too early for some, but the 1:00 p.m. return is something most folks would enjoy being a part of. Check the website for updates: www.honorflightsaz.org.
