The 2016 SaddleBrooke Dog Park Association’s annual Halloween costume contest was a huge success with more than 45 people and 29 dogs attending the festivities at the dog park in late October.
Twenty-five small dogs and four large dogs competed for prizes donated by association sponsors.
Among the honors: The Best Costume award was shared by Evelyn Sommers’s dog Molly, who was dressed as a housewife and Carol and Chuck Kochess’s dog Nicky, who was garbed as a clown. Obi, owned by June Cullen, was costumed with a ballot box on his back and judged Scariest. Charlie, the pet of Mary Joviak, came in a popcorn outfit that was found Most Creative. Abbey and Digby, owned by Janice and Marlin Waller, were dressed as a University of Arizona team and garnered the Best Duo award.
Prizes included two $50 gift certificates from Camp Bow Wow and a play-date gift certificate from Doreen’s Grooming. Rawhide Feed supplied dog treats. Terri Maxey helped at the event and contributed to goody-bags for dogs. Kathy Majer chaired the Halloween party committee, which included Mary Joviak and Dan Grossman.
