Return to those thrilling years when we were young. Some of us went to the dances and danced, some watched from the sidelines. Bah to that! We can all get on the floor and dance with our own moves—come and have fun with the music of our golden youth! Sip an alcoholic beverage; now you can —legally! The January Hop was “the best dance ever” to quote one dancer. Over 90 people attended; everyone had huge smiles on their faces. The band changed the playlist; they added more slow, romantic, hold your partner close dances. They played songs that just made you get up and dance. Wow, it was fun!

We have two more Sock Hop dances scheduled for the spring season of 2017. The next one is Thursday, March 2 in the MountainView Ballroom. The same great band, 3 Jacks and a Julie (AKA Wild Ride), will play for our listening and dancing pleasure. They will play the great music we enjoyed at the Sock Hops last year plus an expanded variety of songs. A live band adds extra excitement to a dance, especially when they are good!

The last scheduled Sock Hop for the spring is April 27, also a Thursday. We have a Sock Hop scheduled for the fall on Tuesday, November 7. Mark your calendar so you don’t miss out!

Tickets for the March 2 and April 27 dances are on sale now in the HOA 2 Office. Doors and the cash bar will open at 5:00 p.m.; the buffet will be served at 5:45 p.m. The menu will be an American Barbecue; Chef Jamie will offer hamburgers, chicken breast, cheese, buns and potato salad and pasta salad. If you have special dietary requirements, let the office know when you buy your tickets. 3 Jacks and a Julie will start performing at 6:30 p.m. They will play until 9:30 p.m. Tickets for March 2 are $28 per person.

3 Jacks and A Julie will play many of our favorites from the 50s and 60s; The Everly Brothers, Elvis, Roy Orbison, the Beach Boys and Patsy Cline. The band is so talented. I don’t have to build them up in this article, their music speaks for them. When they play the Righteous Brothers’ Unchained Melody there isn’t a woman listening who doesn’t want to be up on the dance floor in her partner’s arms swaying to the music. Frank just gets better and better each time he sings it. The band has contracted to play in Nashville and Las Vegas. We get to hear them without leaving SaddleBrooke!

Wear your poodle skirt and saddle shoes or your jeans with a white tee or Tucson casual! Come and listen to the band or come and dance. Bring your friends; don’t let them miss out. This promises to again be a very entertaining evening. Return to the days of our youth; let’s have fun at a (shoes on) Sock Hop!
