Karen Wilson was presented the 2016 Most Improved Player award at our Kick-Off Dinner on Tuesday, January 24, by Debbie McMullin (Handicap Chair). This is the fifteenth year our organization has presented this inspirational award to one of our members. It is an award that Mary Canfield first brought to MPWGA and presented in honor and memory of her daughter, Nancy. Each year the candidates are a closely guarded secret and Karen was surprised and honored to receive the award.

From January 1, 2015 to January 1, 2016 Karen’s handicap index decreased from 14.5 to 11.3. Her improvement factor (a formula that calculates the level of a player’s improvement, rather than the net change in index) was 1.137, a significant accomplishment. To qualify for the award a player must have posted a minimum of 48 scores in the calendar year, 12 of which must have been played on MPWGA Tuesday play days. Karen posted in excess of 100 scores in 2016 and is one of our most regular Tuesday players. Karen received a beautiful engraved crystal trophy and a personalized bag tag.

Congratulations to our 2016 Most Improved Player, Karen Wilson!
