Jim Abrahamson
The SaddleBrooke Tennis Club championships were held the last week of March and the first two weeks of April. The first week was completed with the team of Bob Stocks and Craig McPherson meeting Dick Partridge and Sven Sandblom in the 70s doubles championship match. The match was a clinic in great tennis with Bob and Craig winning 6-2, 6-4. In the consolation finals John Sochacki and Jim Abrahamson defeated Stan Schneiderman and Ron Bechky 6-2, 6-2.
The men’s A and B+ singles rounds long and hard fought with tiebreakers and many deuce games. The A singles winner was Jim Fabio in a tough match against Bill Munroe with Ken Perkins finishing in third place. Men’s B+ singles was won by Vern Ruhberg with Jim Pfeifer taking second and Liam Flynn in third.
It was a good week of tennis with only one day of the usual wind that seems to accompany the Club Championships every year.
