100th Anniversary Screening ‘The Mine with the Iron Door’

A 100th anniversary screening of the silent film The Mine with the Iron Door will occur in Oracle on Oct. 5 and 6. Both screenings are a collaboration of the Oracle Historical Society, Triangle L Ranch, and the Oracle Piano Society.

The silent film was based on a popular book by Harold Bell Wright and was filmed in Oracle in 1924. The screenings will be accompanied by a live chamber orchestra conducted by the creator of the musical score, composer Brian Holman. Prior to showing the film, Mr. Holman will speak about the score, which was originally prepared for the 90th anniversary screening at the Rialto Theatre in Tucson.

Saturday, Oct. 5, 6:30 p.m. Screening

Triangle L Ranch Outdoor Courtyard, 2805 N. Triangle L Ranch Road, Oracle, Ariz. Tickets are $25 each and must be pre-purchased at TriangleLRanch.com. Tickets are limited to 150 seats. Gates open at 5 p.m. The sculpture trails and exhibitions will be open. There may be a food truck. There will be a western dance band from 8 to 10 p.m. Wear your 1920s era costumes!

Sunday, Oct. 6, 3 p.m. Screening

Oracle Center for the Arts, 700 E. Kingston Street, Oracle, Ariz. Tickets are $35 each and must be pre-purchased at OraclePianoSociety.org. Popcorn and refreshments will be served. 1920s era costumes are encouraged!
