Fall Classes Are Underway

SaddleBrooke Computer Club’s fall lineup of classes has started. To see what classes are scheduled, check out the club calendar at www.saddlebrookecc.org and click on the Calendar link. To sign up for a class, click the Enrollment link. Club members can register for as many classes as they wish throughout the calendar year.

Classes are held in our fully equipped (PCs and MACs) computer classroom. The instructors are SaddleBrooke residents, unpaid volunteers who give their time and talents to help their SaddleBrooke neighbors.

If you are not yet a member of SaddleBrooke Computer club and you would like to attend any of these classes, go to our website at saddlebrookecc.org and click the Membership link for details on how to join. There’s a one-time fee of $55 for an individual or $80 for a couple when you first join. For subsequent years you pay only a $30 course fee. This gives you access to unlimited course registrations for the given calendar year. Fees are used to keep the classroom computers, software and related equipment up to date for your use during class.

Spring Classes

Fall classes are just getting underway but we are already making plans for the spring trimester. Keep an eye on the website calendar for the courses to be offered. These courses will open for registration on November 15. To provide the best possible classroom experience class sizes are limited, so mark your calendars now.

Monthly User Group Meetings

User Group meetings that were on summer hiatus are back. Last month, Richard Beaty kicked off the first meeting of the season with a presentation on Streaming TV Update, where he introduced new programming options, many of which are being offered by cable and satellite companies that are realizing this is the way of the future. Upcoming User Group meetings include:

October 19 – Windows 10 – presented by Dennis Korger

November 16 – Garage Band – presented by Jim O’Brien

User Group meetings are open to all SaddleBrooke residents. You don’t have to be a club member to attend. All User Group meetings are held on the third Monday of the month from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. in the MountainView West Ballroom.

PC Users – Upgrade To Windows 10 For Free

Windows 10 has now been available for about three months and many PC users are taking advantage of Microsoft’s free upgrade offer for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 users. If you are one of those who has been waiting for Microsoft to shake out any possible bugs, you won’t have long to wait. A major update to Windows 10 is expected sometime in November. This is not just a patch fix, but a significant update that will contain new optimization and stabilization features designed to further enhance the operating system.
