Warren Tiahrt takes his seat on the hole-in-one train

It is really quite amazing the number of holes-in-one members of the MPMGA have recorded this year. Warren Tiahrt made it 16 on Saturday, November 12 at the Preserve Golf Club. This must be some kind of record! Warren’s playing partner Nick Nicholas said after Warren hit his shot, that he thought it was in the hole. Warren was skeptical because this was the eleventh hole and the contour of the green often causes us to lose sight of the ball. He was playing from the platinum tees, the distance was about 110 yards and an eight iron was chosen for the shot. I am quite sure that his mind was racing as he journeyed to the green. Could Nick be right? Could Nick be right? Yes, he could and everyone witnessed the ball resting at the bottom of the cup. Congratulations one more time!

Warren, like many others, did not take up golf early in life. He started after graduation from college in 1959 and was so smitten with the game that he played almost every afternoon at Harkers Hollow Country Club in Easton, Pennsylvania. Again, like many others, work and a new career with Ingersoll-Rand took most of his time and it was not until the 1980s that golf became a serious endeavor. This was his sixth hole-in-one and his third on SaddleBrooke courses. Wow! I’m impressed.

Playing partners Nick Nicholas, Brian Gallup and Doug Anderson were treated to refreshments after the round and it has been said that they enjoy the expensive brands. Doug, by the way, was a partner when Warren made his hole-in-one on the fourth hole at MountainView. We all need to find a way to join this group! Again, congratulations.
