Spanish Culture Club news

The Spanish Culture Club of SaddleBrooke (SCC) is a culture club, not a language club. It is composed of a group of social and intellectually curious Brookers that seek to expand their knowledge of Latin culture within the “Old Pueblo” and beyond. This is accomplished through monthly meetings that include speakers and potluck buffets, monthly Spanish-speaking breakfast, lunch and excursions to local events and restaurants.

Our Spanish-speaking (optional) breakfast meets the fourth Monday at 8:30 a.m. Upcoming breakfasts are on March 26 at the Mesquite Grill and April 23 at the Roadrunner. There will not be a breakfast on Memorial Day, May 28.

Spanish-Speaking Only lunches are at noon on the first Monday of each month at the Mesquite Grill. Upcoming dates are April 2 and May 7. All are welcome to drop by and practice your language skills.

At our February 19 meeting, we thoroughly enjoyed our annual much anticipated Trivial Pursuit game night and potluck tapas buffet dinner. Lots of laughs, prizes and fun created a very special evening for all.

Our March 19 meeting featured Charlie Bouffard presenting, “Costa Rica: National Parks and Tropical Rainforest” following his recent two-week vacation. His photographic skills, knowledge and insight of that region created an informative experience for all.

March 28 offers the Peruvian Amazon and mountain top of Machu Picchu as our club subsidized dinner at Villa Peru, an authentic three-course Peruvian meal, including the traditional beverage of the Inca natives, Chincha Morada.

Please join us for our next meeting April 16 (speaker to be announced). We meet monthly at the SaddleBrooke One Activity Center at 5:30 p.m. Bring a potluck dish to share and your beverage of choice. If you choose to become a member, the annual fee is $20 per person. You may send your check, made out to “Spanish Culture Club” to Riley Jackson, 65441 E. Rocky Mesa Dr., Tucson, AZ 85739.
