Let’s Dance Club announces fall schedule

Mary and Dave Perform the Merengue

Mary and Dave Perform the Merengue

The basis of the Latin dance Merengue is a march of eight equal steps During June Dave Poferl and Mary Borkovec taught their class of Let’s Dance Club members several varieties of those eight beats. Imagine what the patterns called Bow and Arrow, Halo or Rainbow look like! The Merengue is also a dance that invites a great deal of creative movement. Keep the beat, keep moving and invent moves as you dance. A great deal of innovation and laughter accompanied the Merengue students and their teachers.

In July Ann and Tom Kurtz coach an eager class in the intricacies of the Rumba. This is known as the dance of love and is both sensuous and multifaceted. From the simple underarm turn to the spirals potpourri the Rumba is a challenge to learn, but a joy to dance. Beginning dancers and those more experienced all added many patterns to their repertoire.

The Let’s Dance Club has a full schedule of lessons ready for the next several months. Below is information on those classes and how to participate in all the fun.

In August the dance floor in the SaddleBrooke Clubhouse Vermilion Room will be available Wednesdays 10:00 a.m. to noon for club members to practice whatever dance they wish. In September Dave Poferl and Mary Borkovec will present West Coast Swing. There will be a Beginners class and a Beyond Basics class. Preregistration is required. Email [email protected] to register for either session.
