Computer Club meeting set for October 16

Gloria Quigg

The next general meeting of the SaddleBrooke Computer Club will be held on October 16 at 1:00 p.m. in the East Ballroom at MountainView. Have you wanted to use Skype but didn’t know how to use it? Would you like to keep in touch with family but need more information? Well, come to the October meeting and learn. Leigh Beaty will give a presentation on how to use Skype. Skype can be a great feature allowing you to talk to your family in real time and see them as well; better than just a phone call. I’m sure Leigh will be able to answer your questions and you will leave with new knowledge.

In addition to our presenter, there will be time to ask some general questions about computers – hardware and software. And don’t forget the door prize. This meeting is open to all residents of SaddleBrooke and SaddleBrooke Ranch so come and learn about Skype. Then mark November 20 for our November meeting when an instructor will tell us all about Apple iOS 11. Our instructor is very knowledgeable about everything Apple.

Earlier this year the Board of Directors reviewed our finances and decided that an increase in fee would be necessary. Beginning with renewals for 2018 the student fee will be $35. One of the expenses that we incur on a monthly basis is the fee for our new website. Other expenses that occur on a yearly basis are purchase of Family Tree Maker 2017 and renewal of Office 365. This is a reminder that we, the Computer Club, purchase all of the hardware and software necessary for the club to operate and that we have not had a fee increase in many years. As our expenses go up the Board needs to review our fee structure and sometimes make increases.

Look forward to seeing you at the October and November User Group meetings.
