Missions trip to Salvation Army – Amphi District

Ron Morris

Some members of the Missions Committee of Community Church at SaddleBrooke (CCSB) went to the Amphi District of the Salvation Army on Friday, July 13, 2018, to observe how the children in Summer Camp were enjoying the day. The district office hosts 60 kids, ages about 7-13, during each week in the summer. They enjoy crafts, field trips and fellowship.

The Missions Committee at CCSB has regular mission’s donations for the Amphi District and this year voted to provide an additional $2,000 to the Salvation Army to help cover the costs of summer camp.

The two leaders of the Amphi district are Lieutenants Taurean and Yohani Ortiz and have been at this location for just under one year, previously located in Alaska.

The Missions Committee members watched team members of the Tucson Buckets basketball team as they gave demonstrations to the kids and inspirational messages about avoiding bullying.

Pastor John met Lt Taurean Ortiz and talked about their dedication to serving the community.

The Missions Committee members had an enjoyable visit to the Salvation Army.
