Vista Fine Arts season begins October 22

Donna Langwig

The 2017-2018 season of Vista Fine Arts opens on Sunday, October 22 at 3:00 p.m. with the amazing Desert Wind Saxophone Quartet. Since its founding in 1990, the Desert Wind Saxophone Quartet has treated audiences throughout the Phoenix area to a wide variety of music from baroque, jazz and popular music, to modern chamber literature and original saxophone works. Their musical philosophy is to bring the very popular saxophone into a new light.

So join the Desert Wind Saxophone Quartet for an afternoon of Swing, Rags and Ballads. Highlights of the performance will include a tribute to the famed Hollywood Saxophone Quartet, as well as selections written by some of America’s best song writers/composers, George Gershwin and Richard Rodgers. There is also a rumor that a few of the quartet’s favorite Southwest flavored selections will find their way onto the program. It promises to be an afternoon of music and fun.

Invite your friends and family to come with you on Sunday, October 22 at 3:00 p.m. at Vista de la Montaña United Methodist Church, 3001 E. Miravista Lane in Catalina (on the west side of Oracle Road, 3.7 miles north of Tangerine). The concert is free. A suggested donation of $10 is appreciated.
