Unit 3 South Party

On Sept 22, we met at the Agave Lounge for drinks and dining and discussing travels for the summer. This summer, residents made trips to Ireland, Paris, Salt Spring Island in BC, Texas, Wyoming, Utah, NM, Colorado, and the Midwest to see relatives. To help pay for his travel to Ireland, Joe Lyons won the 50-50 (again).

Susan Schwartz, a new resident on Canyon Shadows, is a world traveler, and educator. Susan has specialized in teacher training in English in emerging countries. Here are some of the countries where Susan has lived: attended high school in Sweden, Peace Corp in Sierra Leone, taught English in WuHan China (2 trips), Indonesia, and Borneo. The last 16 years Susan has taught ESL in Massachusetts. Susan joins her parents who have lived here in SaddleBrooke for over ten years. Welcome, Susan!

Dottie and John Shaffer, organizing Unit 3 South social events, announced the following events: 10/24 stargazing and pizza at the Lund’s home, 11/17 pasta and pizza at Nonna Marie’s Restaurant Oracle, 12/13 Holiday Brunch at the Vistas HOA 1.

Halloween Party in Unit 17

Betsy Lowry

The 17ers have had a great summer with buffet parties, an ice cream social and our upcoming Halloween party at Brian and Cheryl Mundy’s home.

We still have our monthly appetizer and BYO parties, buffets and a couple of theater events are coming up this fall. It is hard to believe that our unit has been around for over 16 years and we are still getting together for monthly events. We are delighted that many of our new residents are joining in.

This article should be published about the time our beloved snowbirds return. Welcome home.

It’s fall, y’all! Time for Unit 32 to mosey up the trail to Cadillac Chaparral for the annual End of Summer party where friends meet and there’s good grub to eat. On September 12 our folk caught up on summer news and reviews while munching on a menu ranging from catfish to steak. We’re beholden to our trail boss, Margaret Falkowski, for organizing this popular event.

After a snowbird season of sampling a wide range of Tucson restaurants, Café 32 ladies were ready to summer close to home. Where better than the patio area of the Preserve Grille? On August 11 the ladies sampled scrumptious luncheon fare of starters, salads, burgers and sandwiches under the backdrop of stunning mountain vistas. Another thanks goes to Margaret Falkowski for making arrangements.

Two fabulous appetizer parties kept Unit 32ers cool and connected. On July 23 Bob and Debbie Ogle opened their lovely casa with the stunning views. It was the perfect spot for sampling delicious appetizers. Thanks to Debbie for providing a special dessert for all to share.

On August 8, our resident actors, Ron and Leah Kari, gave an Oscar performance as hosts of an appetizer party. Appealing hors d’oeuvres and delectable desserts celebrated the monsoon season. An award goes to the Kari for opening their lovely hacienda with fabulous hospitality.
