Well, actually there was a lot of other good stuff ,too. Fresh fruit, sausages, Bloody Marys and Mimosas, in addition to the pancakes and gelato. Event organizer Diane Korn said that the 86 Unit 21 folks who attended the annual Fourth of July Pancake Breakfast were pretty much unanimous that gelato goes really well with Pancakes.

“We had gelato left over from our unit’s April Gelato Fest and we wanted to make sure it didn’t go to waste,” Diane said. “Our annual July 4 breakfast event seemed like a good opportunity to add the cool, creamy treat to our menu and it was a hit. It may become a permanent part of our Fourth of July breakfast menu.”

According to Diane, this event has been part of Unit 21’s social agenda since at least 2010 and she has coordinated the breakfasts since 2012. “But this annual July 4 activity wouldn’t be possible without a lot of hard-working volunteers, she added. “This year we had at over 22 volunteers doing everything from set-up, pancake flipping and serving, to bartending and clean-up. They all did a fantastic job!”
