Several SaddleBrooke Friday Quilters entered their quilts in the thirty-ninth annual Tucson Quilters Guild Quilt Fiesta held in February. Over the years SaddleBrooke quilters have been well represented at this large regional show. Doreen Diaz was a first-time submitter with Red Hot Hosta and won an Honorable Mention ribbon in the two-person large pieced category. Fellow SaddleBrooke resident Lynn Simon long-arm machine quilted this winning entry. Doreen’s quilt is based on the pattern Fire Island Hosta by designer Judy Niemeyer.

Other Friday Quilters who entered this year were Pat Morris with Nandi, Baby Elephant and Teri Caplener and Carol Zupancic’s wall hanging Birthday Garden. Teri Caplener won an Honorable Mention ribbon for her Christmas Block, a Tucson Quilt Guild challenge category. Tami Graeber’s trifecta of Best of Show three years running and other winning entries is documented in a separate article.

Look for several of these and other beautiful and creative works to appear in the SaddleBrooke Friday Quilters semi-annual quilt show to be held on March 11, 2018 in the MountainView Ballroom. These ladies are examples of many talented members of the SaddleBrooke Friday Quilters. We meet every Friday at 9:00 a.m. in Craft Room 4 of the HOA 1 Arts and Crafts Center. Come see what we are doing and become inspired.
