Tai Chi

Carol Emerson

Black belts Carol and Ken Emerson are proud to announce the promotion of nine students in their belt ranking system. Promotions are based on a student’s accomplishment in the Ching Yi Kung Fu Association core curriculum, which consists of the three internal martial arts of Tai Chi Chuan, XingYi Chuan and BaGua Tsang.

The CYKFA was founded in 1972 by Dr. Her Yue Wong as an organization of fellowship for practitioners of the system and as a certifying body for those wishing to attain official rank.

The term “Ching Yi” can be translated as “fine arts” or “refined arts” and was chosen by Dr. Wong to convey the goals of his Kung Fu System and Association— the constant refinement of our skills toward the objective of total mastery. Students are afforded a great deal of latitude in their training to fit the goals, interests, needs and limitations of each individual.

While participating in the belt system is not a requirement, it is a great way to recognize one’s progress and the grandkids think it’s pretty cool, too.

Our sincere congratulations to: Orval Bequest, Blue Belt; Kimberly Clark, White Belt; Bob De Fraites, Blue Belt; Bonnie Golden, Blue Belt; Lynda Green, Brown Belt; Jo Ann Hayes, White Belt; Carol Nicholson, Blue Belt; Patrice Passer, Blue Belt and Dee Roever, White Belt.

Classes are held at the SaddleBrooke One fitness center on Tuesdays from 9:05-10:05 a.m. (Beginning Class) and on Saturdays from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (Advanced Class) and from 12:30–1:30 p.m. (Intermediate Class). Fee is $10 per class.
