Swim Club program returns

The Let’s Swim program was so successful this summer that, because of the number of requests, it is being offered a second time! If you have thoughts about getting back in the water but feel out of shape, lack the motivation to swim alone and the idea of joining a practice alongside competitive swimmers somewhat daunting, this is the answer. We all know that swimming is the best low impact exercise for our (gasp!) aging bodies and swimming alone is not a good idea, so join other new or returning swimmers on October 12. This SaddleBrooke Swim Club program offers an opportunity for swimmers to get back into the water beside other returning swimmers. Participants in the summer program had positive feedback about the program and while most of them are continuing to swim together at least two days a week, a few have even decided to join the SaddleBrooke Master’s Swim Team! The comment heard most frequently on the deck was, “I forgot how great it felt to be conditioning in the water.” Summer participants ranged in age from 55 to 90, so age is no limitation when it comes to swimming.

Beginning on Wednesday, October 12 the program will be held twice weekly for four weeks, 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays at the DesertView Pool. During those sessions, in a totally non-threatening environment, coaches will assist swimmers with the techniques, guide them through workouts and help swimmers to become more efficient in the water. At the completion of the four weeks, swimmers are encouraged to continue to swim with the swim club; however, there is no obligation to swim competitively in meets or join the master’s swim team. In fact, many of the club’s members swim purely for fitness and recreational enjoyment. The SaddleBrooke Swim Club has always welcomed swimmers of all abilities and skill levels.

The only prerequisite for the program is to be able to swim one length of the pool.
