Summer fun with Stained Glass Club

Have you ever thought about making stained glass objects? Are you intrigued by the colors and creative designs of glass art objects? Would you like to make projects for your home and gifts for others?

The Stained Glass Club is an official SaddleBrooke Club formed about 15 years ago. It was started as a way for people to continue working in stained glass after they completed a beginner glass class. Classes are given by qualified instructors and/or work on their projects in the Turquoise Room at the HOA 2 Activity Center on Mondays until noon and all day Thursdays.

The club has most equipment needed to begin working on a project including glass and bevel grinders, glass and came saws, a light box, circle cutter, soldering irons, a lead stretcher and the Morton system as well as assorted basic tools and patterns. The club also has an inventory of Glass Club materials and tools available at our cost for club members, i.e. flux, solder, grinder bits, some hand tools and other products for members to purchase.

A two week Mosaic Class is scheduled for Monday, July 20 and 27 from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. The purpose is to create a stunning decorative home accent using glass scraps, beads, glass globes, shells, broken china, etc. Class participants will need to provide their own flat surface such as a serving tray, planter saucer, plate or stepping stone. No stained glass experience is necessary. Total cost will be about $60; $40 for materials and tools and $20 for instructions.

Next fall the club will offer another Beginning Level Class and we will have a table at the Fall Arts and Crafts Show at MountainView Clubhouse. Please visit us for more information at http://saddlebrookeglass.com/.
