Santa Catalina Parish to hold session on youth homelessness

Santa Catalina Catholic Church at 14380 N. Oracle Road will be hosting an open session on Sunday afternoon, January 26, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall to address the issue of youth homelessness in our communities. Youth homelessness is a daily and growing problem for hundreds of teenage girls and boys throughout Pima and Pinal Counties. The Santa Catalina session will hear from professionals that are currently involved with this problem as well as from teens that are or have previously been on their own at times in their young lives.

Those on the program include: Sister Leonette Kochan from the Diocesan Office of Social Justice, Faith Carrabis, Development Director for Youth on Their Own, YOTO, for teen girls and boys in Tucson and Ike Shipman, Director for the Rite of Passage Program of Sycamore Canyon Academy in Oracle for youth 12 to 17 from Pima and Pinal Counties.

All are invited to attend this program to learn about the issue and how they may help to alleviate the consequences homelessness can bring to the future of these young boys and girls. For more information you may call the Parish Office at 520-825-9611.
