SaddleBrooke Winds and Strings entertain at the Preserve pool

Marie Lopez

On a warm June Saturday evening, the musical band, Winds & Strings, heated up the night with the sounds of Broadway. The band provided another free concert but for the first time up at The Preserve. With the background of our beloved Catalina Mountains, the music flowed and the audience applauded.

Winds & Strings, usually a 40 plus member band, are down in numbers for the summer, but you sure didn’t notice it with their music. The sound was awesome. Under the portico by the pool, the music of Cabaret, Seventy-Six Trombones, Beauty and the Beast and Don’t Cry for Me, Argentina were heard drifting on the night’s air. The Phantom of the Opera, Memory and Go, Go, Go Joseph were played just to name a few of this non-stop packed performance.

With Winds & Strings members conducting along with a guest conductor, Charles Ridel, a song sung by band members and joined by an audience member along with a happy birthday and a 50th wedding anniversary song, the evening was complete with humor and laughter.

Looking forward to another free concert in July; date and time still to be determined. If you play a musical instrument and would like to join Winds & Strings, we would love to have you. Just call Jim at 520-241-3522.
