SaddleBrooke Singers begin new season

Sam Page

The SaddleBrooke Singers kicked off their fall season with their first rehearsal on September 11. A lot of returning members, plus at least seven new members, will swell the number of singers for this season to 70, compared to 52 singers on the stage at the very successful spring concert, Salute to America. This number of singers will give a fuller tone to the already rich notes that you have come to expect from the SaddleBrooke Singers.

We held a Welcome/Welcome Back party after the rehearsal, graciously hosted by Jim and Kathie Barrett at their home with almost everyone there, as well as some spouses of members. Appetizers and desserts provided by the members were the menu for the evening and we all had a very enjoyable evening of conversation—and good food!

This will be the second concert in SaddleBrooke conducted by Director Tanya Elias-Graf and she was pleasantly surprised by the depth of the response received from the audience in the spring concert. She said, in a letter of thanks to the choir, “We have received some very positive and meaningful feedback from the SaddleBrooke community. I have been humbled by the response and am grateful for the opportunity and the experience that we have been given together.”

Knowing that they have a lot to live up to after all the praise for their last concert, the Singers are busily preparing for their Christmas Concert, the first half of which will feature one song from every decade of the Twentieth Century. The second half will be a holiday revue, A Holiday to Remember, featuring popular holiday songs, complete with accompanying musicians and maybe some surprises.

The organization is comprised of SaddleBrooke residents only and has been presenting programs to the community for over 20 years. The Christmas Concert will be presented on December 2 and 4, 2016. Tickets are on sale now for $18 at the MountainView Ticket Office or at the DesertView Theatre website. For more information, please contact Sam Page at 825-1047.
