Greg Corman, Artist and Landscape Designer, will present Functional Art in the Garden at the MountainView Clubhouse Ballroom West on February 18, 2016, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. after Ask Your Master Gardener from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m.

Greg Corman is a Tucson-based artist and landscape designer who works primarily with reclaimed wood, steel and found objects to create quirky functional nesting habitats for native bees, bird perches and boxes, stacked objects for lizards, etc. These sculptural habitats add a bit of color to outdoor spaces. Come hear Greg talk about the importance of pollinators in our gardens, shrubs that will attract them and how artful habitats benefit humans and the creatures that share our gardens.

Dr. Steve Buchmann, Author and Entomology Professor at University of Arizona, will present Flowers: What They Have to Say for the Birds, Bees, and Us at the MountainView Clubhouse Ballroom West on March 17, 2016, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. after Ask Your Master Gardener from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m.

Dr. Stephen Buchmann is an adjunct professor in the Entomology Department at the University of Arizona. He is also an instructor in the Art Institute of the Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum. He researches buzz pollination in which some bees turn themselves into living tuning forks to harvest pollen.

Stephen has published 12 books, including his latest book The Reason for Flowers. Steve served as Chief Scientist for the feature film Wings of Life, narrated by Meryl Streep. Come to this lecture to find out how flowers talk to the birds and bees.
