SaddleBrooke Genealogy Club news

Carol Tibor

Do you know how your parents first met; how about your great-grandparents? Many of us do not know our family stories. Who will write your story for future generations if not you? These questions were asked of Genealogy Club members at our last meeting on November 2 by speaker Jan Larkey in her presentation How to Write a Family Story. Jan is a resident of SaddleBrooke Ranch and a published writer. Jan led the Genealogy Club members in a writing exercise and shared some of her own story writing from her memoir titled Mom, Mania and Me published under the pen name Diane Dweller. Club members left feeling inspired and motivated to pass on their own written legacy for family and future generations.

The SaddleBrooke Genealogy Club meets on the first Thursday of every month at 1:00 p.m. in the Coyote Room of the SaddleBrooke HOA One Clubhouse. At our next meeting on Thursday, December 9 Michelle Goodrum will speak on Digging for Ancestors at the BLM Website. Guests are always welcome.

Club member Dave Tiefenbach will be teaching a RootsMagic genealogy software class starting on January 4 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The class will be every Thursday for five weeks. RootsMagic is a genealogy program that assists family historians in tracking, organizing, printing and sharing family history. Attendees must be a member of the SaddleBrooke Computer Club. To see a complete description of the class and to register, go to the SaddleBrooke Computer Club website at http://www.saddlebrookecc.org/ and click on Classes.
