The SaddleBrooke Francophiles have begun 2017 with a real flurry of fun activities: celebrating the Epiphany with the Feast of Kings on January 7; combining the festivities of Mardi Gras with La Chandeluer Crepe Party on February 18 and creating and enjoying the Foods and Wines from Four Regions of France on March 18.

After crowning our Kings and Queen on January 7, they were again honored at our fantastic La Chandeleur Crepe Party at the home of Pat Smith. Members created uniquely diverse savory and sweet fillings for hundreds of delicious crepes so there were many oohs and aahs heard about the buffet table throughout the evening.

The four French regions of Provence, Bordeaux, Alsace-Lorain and Burgundy were the focus of our annual Foods and Wines event. Members created traditional appetizers, entrees and desserts from these areas of France and they were paired with complimentary wines from each region as well. Pat Dawydowych chaired this event which was well received and enjoyed by all those present.

Our season of activities will close with our Spring Fling event on April 22, which will feature a potluck and the guessing game Qui; prizes will be given to the first five contestants who guess the French character in question. For Bastille Day, on July 14, members will celebrate at a local French restaurant.

The Planning Committee is working on the 2017-2018 Season of Activities, which will include a trip to the Wilcox Wine Country Festival in October. For more information on the SaddleBrooke Francophiles please contact Pat Smith (825-2409). Vive La France!
