Join us on Thursday, August 8, at the SaddleBrooke One Clubhouse to learn all about the latest from Senior Village. The board of directors of Senior Village will be visiting with us and filling us in on all the details on their organization. Whether you are just learning about Senior Village, or you are somewhat familiar with the organization, this program with help you catch up with all the latest that Senior Village can offer.
The Rotary Club of SaddleBrooke meets weekly and has an array of fascinating programs and speakers on so many different topics. We welcome the community to come learn with us. We post our speakers and programs in advance so that the community members can visit and enjoy learning with us. Sometimes community members like to join us for lunch (we begin ordering about 11:15 a.m.), and sometimes they just visit for the program (usually begins about 12:20 p.m.).
The Rotary Club of SaddleBrooke is an award-winning club, packed with energetic volunteers of all ages coming together as friends in Rotary to assist area schools, our community and international philanthropies. Rotary is open to those who are retired or work in SaddleBrooke, SaddleBrooke Ranch and surrounding communities. Golder Ranch Fire District visits Sunrise Rotary

Our guest speaker was Captain Adam Jarrold. He gave us a lot of very useful information. Did you know that Golder Ranch covers 241 miles, from Ina Road to the Biosphere and that there are ten stations that make up the fire district? They provide so many services including removal of snakes and other critters. Golder Ranch changes smoke detector batteries, and the resident should have the batteries available when Golder Ranch arrives. Many of us did not know about the residential lock box that you can install on the front of your house which will hold an extra key to your house. The lock box can be accessed by fire district personnel in an emergency, and then the firefighters can get your spare house key and use that to get into your home. You can pick one up at the Golder Ranch Fire District administrative offices located at 3885 E. Golder Ranch Drive, and they cost $65.
Our whole club was just amazed at all of the services that are provided by the Golder Ranch Fire District.
Learning to be leaders

SaddleBrooke Sunrise Rotary Club sponsored two students for the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards. Tamara Cano and Celeste Large were delegates from San Manuel Jr./Sr. High School. The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is an intensive four-day workshop for youth ages 14 to 18 in grades 9-12. Tamara and Celeste were chosen for their leadership potential to attend an all-expense paid training program designed to build, strengthen and exercise leadership skills, self-confidence and character.
Tamara and Celeste grew both intellectually and socially by attending the RYLA activities. They told SaddleBrooke Sunrise members that they experienced many of the goals of the leadership training: stepping outside personal comfort zones, learning to work with others from diverse backgrounds to solve problems and achieve common goals. They also had opportunities to gain insight into personal leadership style, strengths and challenges, then had an opportunity to practice leadership skills in a team setting.
