Refugee Ministry of Santa Catalina welcomes Congolese family

In February, members of Santa Catalina Catholic Church’s Refugee Ministry co-sponsored with Refugee Focus a family of 11 from the Democratic Republic of Congo. They had been in a camp in Uganda for 20 years. Grateful to be here, they are busy learning English and acculturating into the community.

Refugee Focus is a resettlement agency in Tucson. Among their many responsibilities is setting up apartments for incoming refugees. We are currently seeking basic items to help them in this effort.

Household items may include: Pots, pans and other cookware; kitchen utensils, can openers, etc.; tea kettles; twin and double size sheets and blankets in good condition; small appliances; everyday silverware and cutlery; new cotton underwear for children and adults; small table lamps and floor lamps.

Donations can be dropped off at the home of Anne Marie Strubel, 64551 E. Canyon Shadows Lane, 818-7845, on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Donation receipts will be provided.
