Questers: Jewelry Around the World

Kathy Turner, the program presenter on her collection of “Gems from Around the World.”

Catalina Time Walkers Questers group met on February 14 to a program of “Jewelry Around the World” given by Kathy Turner who taught school for DoDDES, Department of Defense Dependent Schools, at various military bases around the world including Cuba and Italy. A selection of jewelry originating in European to Asian countries was purchased during her travels. Pearls, silver and gold items were reviewed and gold content from specific areas was discussed. Members also brought a variety of antique and favorite jewelry items to share.

Special guest Daphne Davis, Arizona state president, attended the meeting. She shared a variety of state initiatives plus the Arizona State Questers spring meeting information. This spring meeting will be celebrating the Diamond Jubilee, (75 years) of Questers. The Catalina Timewalkers group was complimented on growing enrollment and interesting programs.

The Catalina Timewalkers welcomes new members. We meet on the third Friday from October through May. Exceptions are December and May when we meet on the second Friday of the month. The purpose of Questers is to stimulate the appreciation of antiques and collectibles through study and to encourage the restoration and preservation of historic landmarks.
