Pickleball’s 2016 Social Holiday Party highlights

The headcount was just a hair under one hundred with lots of new faces at SPA’s (SaddleBrooke Pickleball Association) Holiday Party for 2016 held again at HOA 1. The attendees dined on Chateau Briand, sole stuffed with crab and bacon or a vegetarian entrée and, as I looked around the table, the plates looked pretty well cleaned up. Dance Music DJ Bob Osbourne not only put out the tunes, he actually came out onto the dance floor and led some of the line dancing steps. It was nice to see so many dancers take part.

We asked those attending to bring canned food and/or a gift. The toys for tots were donated to the fire department. The canned foods went to IMPACT, a community food bank that helps over 4,000 families on a daily basis.

An announcement was made at the social that Cherrill Kallio will be stepping down from co-chairing SPA social activities with Angela Martin. Fortunately Gail Thom will be stepping up to co-ordinate 2017 year activities with remaining co-chair Angela Martin. We owe many thanks to these women who have orchestrated a great year for our pickleball club, which continues to grow. Cherrill has been sharing her time and leading our committee team for over three years. Extremely dedicated, she has promised to be in the wings ready to advise on any function we may plan in the future. We wish her well as family commitments require more of her time.

Please feel free to join our club in the upcoming year. Pickleball is a wonderful way to spend some time with neighbors and enjoy the great outdoors we have all come to know and love. A happy holiday season to one and all. Cheers!
