News from the Institute

Welcome back to the snowbirds and those who have enjoyed their summer visiting other parts of the world. We’re looking forward to you sharing with us in the wonderful activities we have planned for the 2018/19 year.

Shabbat Services

Our first Shabbat Service for the 2018/19 year will be on October 26. Our inspiring services are led by Rabbi Sandy Seltzer with Cantorial Soloist Sarah Bollt and accompanied by Chris Tackett.

Shabbat Services are preceded by an optional dinner at the MVCC Bistro East Room. To make a reservation for our community dinner contact Ellie Adelman at [email protected] or call 818-3064.

Following services, we will have an Oneg Shabbat. Contact Joan Elder at [email protected] or 529-825-0190 if interested in sponsoring an Oneg.

As in past years Shabbat Services will be held in MVCC Ballroom West/Center, beginning at 7:00 p.m., except as noted. Mark your calendars with the following dates: October 26, 2018; November 30, 2018; December 21, 2018; January 25, 2019 – SaddleBrooke One Activity Center; February 22, 2019; March 29, 2019 and April 26, 2019.

Adult Education Class

Rabbi Seltzer will again lead an inspiring Adult Education Class late January/early February on “Probing the Biblical of Judges.” This will be three-session inquiry into the exploits of memorable personalities described in a text revered by Jews and Christians alike whose stories reflect a chaotic world where we are told, “In those days there was no king in Israel and each man did as he pleased.” Judges 21:25.

Stay tuned for future activities.
