The Nature Club began its fall activities with an evening of dinner and music at Oracle State Park. Over 60 members gathered at the large group area to enjoy the afternoon with drinks, appetizers and the company of a female Harris Hawk. Those with cameras were able to take wonderful close-ups of the bird as it sat in a nearby tree, probably scolding us for invading her territory.

Dinner was provided by the Oracle Patio Café. Watermelon and jicama salad, fresh green beans, roasted potatoes, barbecued beef and cherry cobbler were enjoyed by all. Soft guitar music and pleasant duets by one of the park rangers, Jennifer Rinio, and her friend made the evening even more pleasant.

The Nature Club provides programs, field trips and activities throughout the fall, winter and spring. Meetings are the second Monday of each month at 4:00 p.m. in the Coyote room at HOA 1. Dues are $15 per year; $20 for couples.
