Meeting the SaddleBrooke congregation of Resurrection Church was the first stop on the itinerary of Pastor Tim Nybroten as he and his family visited the area the weekend of February 24 to 26. During that time he attended a Meet ‘n Greet in SaddleBrooke on Friday, preached at 5:00 p.m. and attended a potluck at the main campus on Saturday, preached at two main campus Sunday services, then came back to SaddleBrooke to preach at the 10:00 a.m. service here. After that, he was formally “called” by Resurrection Church with a unanimous vote at a noon congregational meeting.

The SaddleBrooke Meet ‘n Greet was co-hosted by Patty Elliott and Judy Stanard, both members of the Call Committee formed to select and recommend a new pastor. Other Call Committee members present were another SaddleBrooke resident, Pastor Roy Guinn, as well as Dove Mountain resident Carolyn Nichols who, along with her husband Ken, participates in services at the main campus. More than 60 others attended as did Senior Pastor Al Jensen and his wife Char.

Sharon Dunn, Sandi Newberry and Barbara Webb lent a hand in the kitchen while Tom Larkin, Scott Newberry and Pat Webb offered golf cart shuttle service, facilitating easy movement to and from parked cars. Helping out as and where needed was Charles (Bud) Dunn. Many volunteered to bring food but most of it was provided by members of the Soul Sisters, one of the women’s groups of the SaddleBrooke congregation.

Pastor Tim is currently on an interim assignment, serving a church in Beloit, Wisconsin. He, his wife Chandra who serves as an active partner in Tim’s ministry and their two children, Hannah, a student at the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire and Joshua, a junior in high school, plan to be moved here by early summer.

Resurrection Church holds its all-denominational Sunday worship service(s) in the Vermilion Room at the HOA 1 Clubhouse. April 16, Easter Sunday, there will be no services in SaddleBrooke. A bus will transport SaddleBrooke residents to the 9:15 a.m. service at the main campus in Oro Valley. Starting Sunday, April 23 Resurrection Church will begin it summer schedule with one service at 10:00 a.m. All are welcome.
