Mark your calendars to battle cancer!

Linda DeWitt

The continuing battle against cancer will again be supported on Nov. 18 and 19, as the MountainView/Preserve Women’s Golf Association (MPWGA) will host the annual “Take a Swing at Cancer” Golf Tournament. MountainView Golf Club will be the venue with an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Nov. 19. New this year will be a cocktail party and auction on Monday, Nov. 18, where teams will bid on caddies supplied by the MPMGA to assist their teams during the tournament!

The modified scramble tournament is open to all SaddleBrooke lady golfers including SaddleBrooke One and SaddleBrooke TWO, SaddleBrooke Ranch, as well as non-SaddleBrooke residents—so outside female guests are welcome! So, form a team with your friends to participate in this worthy cause!

We’d like to extend special thanks to our two Title Sponsors, Ironwood Dermatology and Margie and Dottie with Long Realty, and to Travelinda and Sparkle and Splash who are sponsoring the Monday evening cocktail event.

As in past years, we will conduct a raffle and a silent auction during the luncheon following golf, and we’re again appealing to your generosity which has helped us raise over $120,000 in cancer research donations! All net proceeds will benefit the University of Arizona Cancer Center for Research in support of all types of cancer research.

Every year, we have received beautiful handcrafted items from our very talented members, residents, and friends. Also, many units and golf groups have donated creative theme baskets to be included as raffle or auction prizes. Items such as bottles of wine or gift cards are welcome, which can then be combined to create baskets. We will also accept checks made out to UAF/UACC.

We would appreciate your new/quality donated items by November 11 for the “Take a Swing at Cancer” event. Annie Peaker: [email protected] or 825-3170; or Donna Yon: [email protected] or 562-522-1180. Thank you again for your support!
