Line Dance lessons with Rebecca

October finds a happy Level 1 class of line dancers in the new Mariposa location at DesertView. Soon we’ll all be back on the dance floor and learning more new dances like Black Whiskey - already in our heads. Rebecca (front left) teaches these happy dancers year round.

Line Dance is both fun and exercise – one of the top forms of low impact activity for seniors. A major thing you will learn with Rebecca is that many dance movements already occur in daily life – just add music and pattern. One of the biggest hurdles found with dancing pleasure is moving the tootsies a bit quicker. This ability is a fundamental component of better balance and coordination. Classes of all skill levels include dance fundamentals and interval training to prepare for years of better health. You will experience different music and dance styles (Latin, Waltz, Country, etc.). Rebecca works hard to accommodate everyone’s progress.

Level 1 Beginner classes are for students new to line dance and those who like easier steps, a more pace and less strenuous workout. Monday is the place for dancing fun. Classes also at the Ranch are available Wednesdays. Level 1 students can move to Level 2 as they become more confident, comfortable and physically fit on the dance floor.

Level 2 Advanced Beginner/Easy Intermediate dances are more complex. The teaching pace is quicker. Sessions are Monday afternoons and/or Tuesday mornings. If you already have basic skills and fitness, you may be able to enjoy this as your first series by checking your status with Rebecca. Classes also at the Ranch are available Wednesdays.

Level 3 Intermediate dancing is the most challenging in our communities. Thursdays bring a lot of fun, vigorous workouts and a mentally challenging dance floor experience. Class for residents of both SaddleBrooke and SaddleBrooke Ranch is only in SaddleBrooke at this time

Student “happy feet” practice sessions covering all three skill levels are continuous year round and function to seal skills and dances into muscle memory. Each skill level has its own “happy feet” session practicing dances from multiple series. Note that these sessions are more of a no refreshment party hour of dancing. These one hour dance sessions are our most aerobic and fun time each week. The current schedule is emailed to class participants present and past who wish to have more fun on the dance floor.

Line Dance benefits include but are not limited to: 1) Lowered blood pressure and cholesterol level; 2) Increased mobility; 3) Better balance; 4) Stronger bones and muscle; 5) Potential weight loss; 6) Combat depression; 7) Inhibits Alzheimer’s. Yes, line dance is big worldwide because it’s just great for both health and fun.

Line Dancing with Rebecca is thorough and emphasizes lots of fun.
