Knit Wits news

Barb Kervin

On January 30, members of the Knit Wits Club were given a tour of Kids’ Closet in the Mammoth area. The ladies were given a private tour of this amazing and well organized SaddleBrooke Charity by our own Melanie Stout. Melanie answered all of our questions with pertinent and informative answers.

The Knit Wits were impressed with the focus on school children of all ages in our surrounding area. Kids’ Closet provides these children much needed clothing from complete outfits all the way to the very appreciated hats, which Knit Wits provide by knitting and crocheting for this charity.

After being impressed with this charity, our ladies enjoyed a wonderful Mexican lunch at Mi Pueblita. They worked hard at staying away from the home-made sweets, but they couldn’t resist the fresh tortillas made on site! A great restaurant to cap off a fun field trip to Kids’ Closet.

Those that attended this informative tour came away knowing that their part in this much needed charity is so vital to children of all ages. The many volunteers for Kid’s Closet from SaddleBrooke should be applauded!

Also, in January, the Knit Wits had a colorful booth at the Activities Fair. It was chockfull of knitted examples of charity knitting as well as more samples of “Personal Knitted Challenges” many members completed this past year.

Pat Lenz, Sandy Officer (Treasurer) and Barb Kervin (Co-President) were kept very busy answering questions from many of the SaddleBrooke residents who attended this year’s annual Activities Fair. SaddleBrooke residents were inquiring about joining the Knit Wits as well as clarifying the charities they contributed to such as Knitted Knockers, SaddleBrooke Troop Support along with Kids’ Closet.

Our meetings are every Wednesday from 9:00-11:00 a.m., in the SaddleBrooke One Arts and Crafts Center, Room 4. Please feel free to stop by and see what’s going on; new members are welcome anytime, dues are only $12 per year.
