Knit Wits news

Carol Chiarello

We’ve done it again! On February 28, we held our annual SaddleBrooke Troop Support baby shower. Many thanks to all the ladies who knitted and crocheted dozens of beautiful items for the new baby, including blankets, sweaters, hats, booties and even handmade toys. The ladies also generously donated other necessities for baby and mom such as lotions, toys and books, bibs, clothing in various sizes and teething tools.

Troop Support tells us the military families are vetted to determine those in financial need for this baby layette program. These include active soldiers and their families, and reservists. Beth Bradford is our liaison and she creates baskets filled with our donations. Last year our items created over 50 baskets!

A big thank you goes to Kathy Harris and her assistants Donna Silverman and Georgiann Schwetz who put together the lovely event.

The Knit Wits group meets every Wednesday morning from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Meetings are held in the SaddleBrooke One Arts and Crafts Center, Room 4. Our members may choose to knit for several charities that we support, or not. We also offer classes for learning new techniques and those are also optional. Many of our ladies are here to knit and socialize with other fiber fanatics. Please feel free to come by any Wednesday morning to check us out!
