Knit Wits news

Carol Chiarello

Happy New Year! Knit Wits members ended last year with a festive holiday luncheon held at the HOA One bar area. Thank you to the marvelous chef, servers and staff who made this a memorable event. Nearly 50 ladies enjoyed the meal which was a choice between chicken and brie on delicious focaccia bread or a salad topped with warm salmon. Many of us saved room to enjoy the delightful cheesecake bars. We played “Mary’s Bingo” and won some prizes, many which were donated by our members or local businesses. Dianne Barnard did a great job of organizing this.

Youth on Their Own was chosen as the local charity to support at our holiday party. Our ladies knitted (or crocheted) several dozen hats, scarves, mittens and other items for homeless teens. This organization provides guidance and assistance to teens to remain in school, graduate and become self-sufficient.

We look forward to a new year of creating unique and one of a kind projects. Our new co-Presidents Tina Marie Willis and Barb Kervin are busy along with their committees, planning special events which may include lunches, classes and visits to local yarn shops or fiber displays. It’s gonna be a great year!

Dues are $12 annually. Such a bargain! You can join us any Wednesday morning at the HOA One Arts and Crafts Center, Room 4, from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. Are you interested in making new friends, creating beautiful knitted items for yourself, your loved ones or for charity or perhaps learning some new techniques? We are one of the friendliest clubs in SaddleBrooke; now is a great time to join. Of course, SaddleBrooke Ranch knitters are welcome. We look forward to meeting you!
