Knit Wits news

Such creativity with hand dying yarn.

On November 30, the Knit Wits had guest speaker Mary Gavan visiting to discuss hand dying of yarns. After she told us about the process and how she became so interested in this, she helped several of our members to hand dye their own skein of merino wool. The ladies chose three colors to use and went to work! The next week they showed us their washed, rinsed and wound yarns. They were beautiful. Now everyone is ready to knit their own uniquely designed yarn.

We also held our holiday party. Our ladies knitted up scarves, cowls and shawls to donate to our Family First charity. We understand that the children get to select a scarf for their mom and then it is wrapped and given to them. We had over 70 items donated, so thank you to all the Knit Wits who helped.

The party was great fun. We played several games of Knit Wits Bingo. Prizes were awarded to our winners and we also had door prizes with a raffle. Our lunch was either a chicken salad or chicken wrap sandwich, served to us in the old Mesquite Grill by fabulous servers and it was decorated so nicely.

The New Year brings us a new Board of Directors. Mary Berg and Bobbi Forsch are co-presidents. Sandy Officer is Finance Chair, JoAnn Ciaciuch is Program Chair, Dianne Barnard is Social Chair, Dianne Resseguie is Service Chair and Carol Chiarello is Publicity Chair. Tina Marie Willis is our treasurer and membership person.

Are you interesting in joining a fun group of ladies who knit and crochet for personal and charitable pleasure? We meet every Wednesday morning from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. in the HOA 1 Arts and Crafts Center, Room 4. Dues are $12 and we will look forward to welcoming new members in 2017.
