Several members were excited to experience dyeing their own yarn. Mary Gavan, known for her hand-dyed yarns, once again came to the ‘Brooke and taught us about dyeing; this time a luscious cotton and bamboo blend. You can see from the photos this was a grand time. And it was a “no fail” project—the colors were chosen and blended into the yarn; all turned out lovely.

Our members also recently enjoyed a group lunch outing at Harvest. Twenty ladies enjoyed the local cuisine and enjoyed the fellowship of one another. A few even knitted at their seats before the food was served.

In our club we get tips on where to get ideas, yarn, patterns, etc. One website our members use is Ravelry.com, a free website to peruse the knitting and crocheting community. Linda Hood will be doing two classes in how to use this site to get the most out of it, one for beginners and one advanced. We were also excited to hear about eweandbrew.com, a website that features various yarns as well as a hard to come by yarn from Germany called Wollmeise.

The ladies of Knit Wits are friendly and fun. We knit for charity as well as for ourselves and our loved ones. The first Monday of each month is “show and tell.” You can get many great ideas (but where do we find the extra time?) about beautiful items to knit/crochet, ranging from shawls to blankets, to baby hats and knitted knockers and more. You will find us in the HOA 1 Arts and Crafts Center, Room 4, every Wednesday morning from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. Why not stop by and check us out? New members are welcome anytime. We will be there keeping cool as the desert sun heats up this spring into summer.
