On October 11, we will be holding a dinner on the patio at SaddleBrooke One with a delicious menu including minestrone soup; turkey wraps with swiss cheese, tarragon aioli, lettuce, tomato and onion or beef and havarti wraps with horseradish, lettuce, tomato and onion; brownies and non-alcoholic beverages. Cost is $15.85 plus tip and tax for a total of $20 per person. There will be a no host bar.

The SaddleBrooke Winds and Strings will be serenading us before the dinner is served so come early to hear the lovely music.

Mark your calendars for our first potluck of the season which will take place on November 10 at 5:00 p.m. in the SaddleBrooke One Activity Center.

Thanks to Judie Shyman and Carol Levine who hosted the recent JFG coffee in September. It was very well attended and, as has become the norm, the food was yummy and everyone had a good time schmoozing with the other women.

The October Ladies’ Coffee will be held on Friday, October 26 (not the date change) at the home of Judy Bram, 63392 Whispering Tree Lane (off of SaddleBrooke Blvd), at 10:30 a.m. Co-hosted with Marilyn Greenberg and Renee Mazin.

The first men’s lunch of this season will be Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at the Catalina Room of the Mesquite Grill in SaddleBrooke TWO. It will start at 11:00 a.m. and we have the room until 1:00 p.m.

Plan:

11:00 to 11:30 a.m.: meet and talk to friends.

11:30 to noon: lunch orders taken.

11:30 to ? Discussion of a social or international issue? (ironically this discussion is “under discussion”).

Noon: lunch will be served

The Co-Ed Book Club has voted and the results are in. Over the coming season we will be reading: All the Rivers by Dorit Rabinyan; Weight of Ink by Rachel Kadish; Beneath a Scarlet Sky by Mark T. Sullivan; The Lost Letter by Jillian Cantor; The Bridal Chair by Gloria Goldreich; Gateway to the Moon by Mary Morris; Dinner at the Center of the Earth by Nathan Englander.

Meeting dates are November 8, December 13, January 10, February 14, March 14, April 11 and May 9.

Sy Efron has been collecting toys for the children at the Diamond Children’s Hospital for the last 14 years. Sy feels that it is time for him to retire and hopefully pass it on to another volunteer.
